For the sake of big bright smiles and sparkling eyes…

KREM Toy Drive 2012

Do you still remember that one toy you fell in love with the moment you laid hands on it? And do you remember that even when it was old and broken, and it was probably time to let it go, you still held on?

Every year since 2004, KREM Radio has taken the initiative to give back to the community during the Christmas Season with its annual toy drive.

Last year, thanks to many generous Kremites, 1,000 toys were distributed to grateful children on the Southside of Belize City.

It is always exciting to see the faces of the children light up and their eyes sparkle, because for many who live in marginalized areas, it will be the only gift they will receive for the season.

This year, thanks once again to the support of our dedicated listeners, KREM Radio was able to spread some Christmas cheer and distributed 750 gifts.

We thank all contributors, big and small and in particular the Los Angeles Consortium for Belizean Development and Mr. and Mrs. Palma from Houston.

Merry Christmas!!!

About KREM
The idea for the KREM Radio station originated in early 1979 while Rufus X and I were visiting New Orleans. There was a New Orleans deejay I liked, by the name of Sister Love, and one day Rufus and his cousin, Sam Wiley, who was our host, showed me the building where the radio station which featured Sister Love was located. It was quite a modest, one flat structure, much smaller than the three story Albert Cattouse Building from where the Belize government monopoly station – Radio Belize – was broadcasting.
